Our Story

Springfield was established by Dominic Smart with a passion to offer superior craftsmanship alongside exemplary customer service. We carry out small building and maintenance works as well as the bigger projects and we take the same care and attention with all of our work however big or small the job may be. Whether its hanging a door or building an extension, you’ll receive the same customer service and value for money, without compromise.

Having trained as a carpenter I was involved in a great range of building projects ranging from kitchen and bathroom installations through to extensions, new builds and renovation projects.

Whilst my time training and working on such a wide variety of building projects was invaluable, the aim was always to set up my own building company. I found it frustrating watching disorganized jobs and the ‘pass the buck’ trend that’s often associated within the building trade.

After several years as a subcontractor for other building firms, in 2008 I was offered the opportunity to carry out a complete renovation of a 2 bedroom house in Horfield as the main contractor. I was asked to project manage the build as well as carrying out the building works. And so, in June 2008, Springfield Building Services was born.

From that day onwards the ethos was simple. Keep our customer’s satisfaction as the number one priority and to be the one accountable person throughout the whole project.

6 years on and over 100 projects later and the ethos remains the same. I now have Carillion apprentices working alongside me as well as a select team of subcontractors for larger projects.
